Cutting-edge technology combined with the latest developments in dental techniques and materials.
Cosmetic dentistry involves many different areas of dentistry depending on patients requirements. It may include whitening or bleaching teeth, composite resin bonding, placement of resin, porcelain or ceramic veneers or crowns and bridges and straightening teeth. Sometimes, a combination of these different treatments is required.
Our gentle and tailored procedures can:
- change the colour, size and shape of teeth
- alter tooth alignment
- fill spaces between teeth
- improve or correct the patients bite
- restore decayed, broken, cracked, or chipped teeth.
As with all our treatments, macquarieDentists will always discuss all possible cosmetic treatment options with our patients, from the simplest to the more complex. The pros, cons and costs of all procedures are outlined in detail, so our patients can choose the cosmetic work to best suit their personal need, budget and lifestyle.
We offer simple and safe procedures when it comes to whitening your smile. Teeth whitening can be completed in one session at our clinic or in the comfort of your own home.
This involves bonding or gluing tooth coloured plastic resin to the teeth. The resin is soft and moulded to the tooth and then set hard with a light. It may be used to fix a simple chip on a tooth or can cover an entire tooth surface. This is a common procedure in cosmetic dentistry and usually requires no removal of tooth structure or anaesthetic. Composite resin bonding is a highly conservative and pain free way of improving a smile.
veneers – composite resin, porcelain or ceramic
Veneers are generally constructed in a laboratory and are very thin wafers of material that are bonded to the front surface of a tooth. Veneers are used to change the appearance of teeth, such as colour, shape, size or length. Depending on the patients situation, they may be made either of resin, porcelain or ceramic. Veneers usually require some removal of tooth structure. They offer a very stable and more permanent colour change.
Sometimes an entire tooth or teeth may need to be covered to improve their look and function. A crown can be made of metal porcelain or state of the art ceramic material. It covers the entire tooth surface, offering a long term, strong, colour stable solution to improve the look of teeth.
A bridge involves several teeth being crowned and is often used to replace missing teeth. It is permanently bonded to teeth, so is a secure and long term solution to replacing missing teeth. They can be made of resin, durable ceramic or metal materials.
orthodontics: the science of straightening teeth
Modern dentistry offers many techniques to straighten teeth. These days the procedures can be quite fast with no effect on results. Orthodontics at macquarieDentists is generally used to correct minor tooth misplacements. We offer several orthodontic techniques to straighten not only adult’s teeth but children’s teeth as well:
- Inman aligner
- Smilefast Magic Braces
macquarieDentists also refer to several specialist orthodontists for those cases that require different or more complex techniques.
Before any teeth straightening is considered, a comprehensive examination is required to determine the method most appropriate for you or your child’s needs.
am active maintenance programme
As with all dental work, it is important with any cosmetic dentistry treatment to maintain good oral hygiene and regular check-up appointments, to monitor its status and ensure its longevity
macquarieDentists’ AM active maintenance programme is designed to help our patients do this.
